I know it's kind of late, but I will try to do it anyway for myself! :)
So here's my concept: A messenger pigeon and is master standing against a wall... ok I'm not shure about the background yet, but we will make it together ok?!
i did thumbnails at first & quick grayscale image. I don't really use lineart, I just paint over the sketch for the final image.

Starting my color wip with the face, just to give a good start to the composition. Now I can focus on the body, the hat & the bird.

interesting brushstrokes... you look like you can draw/paint well, so i'll leave the technical aspects to you. right now, i think that the best aspect to focus on is to clarify the relationship between master and servant. dont know how exaclty to put this, but i cant really tell if the bird is the master or if the lady is... maybe that is your goal. if it is, then cool. also, i think some other objects/props in the image would serve it well. hope to see it done soon. good luck.

You know, I kept looking at this thumbnail when it would appear, and it looked so intriguing, but I was always on my way to do something in these last days of rushing.. I'm glad I looked. So often a thumbnail will look intriguing, but the full size image will be let down. I am happy to say this fed what my imagination conjured. It's wonderful. Much good luck with the challenge!
Best,
