Hi ya'll,

I've been modelling a low res human figure with the idea to smooth it afterwards but I ran into a problem.

I'm trying to connect the head on the body with the merge vertex command wich works fine but the outer edges of the parts that are connected remain border edges. Even if they are in the middle of my model? This is a big problem cause when I smooth it you get a big fat line in the shading.

Is there a maya xpert in the house?

i get that a lot too with merge verts, i don t know why this happens, i usually delete during cleanup one of the adjacent faces and append the resulting borders edges.

I think it's related to normals in some way, like some of the normals in the edge area are pointing to the opposite directions, so merging can't be done. Just try the "Set to face" or "Smooth" normal tools, that should fix 'em up and you should be able to merge the edges.

Thanx dude it was the normal solution

when I'm finished i'll post the final result.
