i have a problem with the light in this picture
it seems that light is going through a solid structure creating a line of light at a place no light is coming. the two solids are overlapping so there is no space between the two. i used radiosity in this render but it also shows without radiosity. i think i saw a thread about this a while ago, but i couldn't find it anymore. i got it to go smaller when i made the shadow map size bigger, but it only helped a little. what settings should i change to make this go away?

try relative in stead of absolute and lets us know how that works out. sorry owuld give better answer bt doing five things at once here.

You need to work with:

* shadow bias (reduce it) - and as suggested, try absolute on / off
* shadow map size - increase it
* if you can - use a shadow cone on your shadow casting light which is aimed at, and a tight fit, the object you want to cast shows. (view > active object with the light selected to aim it).

If all fails - as you probably realise, hard shadows will fix it.

PS: this is a common failing of this type of shadow method - it's not something specific to Cinema.

thanks

reducing the bias did the trick this time. now i can finally continue without getting frustrated about this all the time.
