does anyone have the problem when creating a displacement map and viewing the image there is hardly any black to white in the histogram? the displacement is there but to see it I have to increase the contrast by about 90% to see anything. I dont seem to have generated the displacement maps differently to how I have done it before...

These are my settings:

DPsubPix - 3
DPres - 2048
Adaptive - off
smoothUV - off

Anybody know why I am hardly getting any tonal range at all?

very wild guess here, but maybe the map you've generated is an un-normalized float?
