cant render out my film from after fx, it sez it hasnt got the codec or something, even though i have that codec downloaded on my computer, unless i have to transfer some file into after fx in some folder or something

see below this is what i get when trying to render out as xvid format.
i press render and get this--

ERROR
statsfile not found

then i close that and get

After effects error- compressor error image size or format may not be supported by this compressor, or there may be a hardware or memory problem ( 53:30 )
what can i do please

try to render it with a simple avi or quicktime then reencode it with an other soft :)
i don't know, but i would not insist with AE, if he dosen't want to do it...you have to look for another way !
try, if you can, to render your movie with an other AE station, or another version of your xvid codec ?
good luck

i tried rendering as uncompressed avi, but there is a 4 gig limit on fat 32 thats why i went with trying to render out as the correct compressed file im going to put on the web.

what do people render out as, what do poeple generally do.

Statsfile? Isn't that file written during first pass of two pass encoding?

I mean if you want to render it to xvid do it in single pass enc with low quantizer for maximum quality. Or maybe try something loseless.

In addition to this "cannot find stats file" means you're trying to run a 2nd pass from 2pass-encoding without having done the 1st pass and if you did you put the stats file somewhere where XviD is not looking for it.
Start -> Programs -> XviD -> Configure Encoder
Then select "Twopass - 1stpass" or "Twopass - 2ndpass" and click on more - here you can configure the position for the statsfile.
