View Full Version : Final Fantasy XI building

I am trying to model a building from FFXI. I didn't play the game so I don't know how high poly the buildings are, I'm trying to make it at least as detailed. Please let me know if so far it is too low poly. I have windows left to make, a fence, some stairs, and the back wall. So far I'm at around 1600 tris. I know the proportions are not exactly like the game's concept art. Thanks!

didn't play this game but i think this polycount should be enough :)

don't forget that you can play with alphas

wait for your texture work ...

Here is the update. Almost done, just the back wall that is needed so it can connect to other buildings, altho I don't think I'll make more. 2260 tris to far. I still need to put the doors too. I don't like how sharp the roof is.. I might have too bevel that.

i haven't played the game either,..but it seems like a lot,...=/ like 2000 polys for a single building seems way to much,..unless maybe it's like by it's self in the middle of a field,.......it just seems like too much


but it looks pretty good ;), but texture will prolly be more important

I've seen you post this in the cgtalk channel and I already thought it was a great start, now it's looking really good but did you find a way to fix those poly-issues you had? Also, I don't think it's too highpoly at all, your using the concept from the game this doesnt mean it needs to be the exact polycount and texturing as in the game, I say throw in a little bit of creativity from yourself, add props etc. Make it look more intresting since your not gonna create the entire city of san doria. Looking forward to your texturing!

Thats actually a building in the elvaan town of Sandoria in FFXI. Your version is already more detailed. The in-game buildings of sandoria are very flat and you can't even see the roof that well on the street level. I think you should keep going with it and see where you end up! Lookin good.

I've been practicing texturing on some other models so there is no update for this right now. I also messed up part of the mesh unknowingly while I was adjusting parts of the mesh and had not realized I also had other points selected, so I'll have to fix that too.

Looking close to concept, and it good. I'm curious how You will texture it, You will use some photos or paint by hand. I must say that I also think about model this one, but I started this ruined temple. Anyway FF have like always awesome concepts. I love them. I will foolow this thread. Thumbs Up !!.
