Komodo Dragon(extra colors)
3dsMax and Photoshop
918 Polygons with a 512 map

This is my third low-poly model, was hoping for some comments.

Blackadder,
For your 3rd model that seems really good :)

Can you post a wire view? Only observation I have is that the texture seems a bit yellowish, but maybe it's your lighting. Also, what about a grey background (or some cool (versus warm) neutral, maybe with a bit of blue to contrast the orangish texture) instead of a black one -- the black flattens the space.

looking great. i second giles.t's requests. does he, or will he, be able to walk? animating the walk cycle on one of these amazing creatures would be a really interesting challenge.

keep it coming.

cheers

Wow!!..I like it lots....and how many polygons!!...looks a lot more, damn good useage tho' cos' it looks a lot more....may I also suggest to maybe desaturate it as it's near glowing?...although it could be my monitor? or the lighting...all the same nice work...would be nice to wires:) ...and you should definitely rig/weight this creature...

Heres the wireframe, it clocks in at 918 polygons. I'm not really happy with the modeling in the legs, but it will do for now.

I hadnt really thought about animating it yet. They definately have an interesting stride and would be fun to work with. Reminds me of Giraffe and thier unique stride, which is constantly animated wrong(see WoW). It might be awhile, but im definately going to look into rigging him up.

Thanks for the comments

Looks good, I think before you animate you're going to want some more geometry in the shoulder areas- IIRC, those folds of skin in the shoulders move and the legs move rather indepedently...more like a turtle with a shell than a dog, if you know what I mean.

The lighting seems really harsh, very bright and very dark without a lot of midtones.

Texture looks nice, although you might want to add some contrast5ing color to the shadow instead of just pure black, it'll make it richer looking.
