View Full Version : Make Light Flicker.
RUNEMASTER 05-04-2005, 11:19 PM I have a scene of a fire. I want to create the illusion of flickering light caused by the fire. Additionally, i want a bit of light intensity fluctuation. basically my fire is just a texture on a plane. there is one light in the scene as omni with no shadow.
is there a better way to produce the light effects of a fire on the environment/

Just keyframe the brightness amount up and down to random levels at as random intervals as you can! - that's how I did it anyway :)- btw, the omni light should really have shadows enabled - a real fire casts shadows.

to make the light random an easy way would be to in xpresso link up a random or noise node to the lights brightness.
My suggestion is place a 3D noise inside the transparancy channel of a material and apply that material to the light. Then animate the tag or the noise moving upward.
