You got it guys.
The next challenge will be a realistic Car crash.

This one is gonna be very interesting and challanging for me!!! probably gonna be my second fxwar challange.

My advice is to dust off on your knowledge of hardbody and softbody simmulations for this one.
It will be hard.

yeah mr.roberto ortiz u r absoutly right. we need our hands on dynamics.

Hmm, I might try, but I don't think I'll have enough time:shrug:

Heck, why not. If I join this months comp, at least I'm guaranteed some more paying work!:)

It's great fun but things keep getting in the way. I'll see how it goes I guess.

Count me in

I'll start filming my wife's driving this week if anyone wants ref footage:eek:

COUNT ME THE F*CK IN!!!.... I'll even try my hardest to finish this time!.....

So that's it?.. a car crash?.. no details?.. we can do any type of car destruction while in motion?

ACamacho

Sounds like the challenge was made for you Scottage. :)

If I am able to scrounge up the time I am in. It would be a great learning experience since I haven't messed with rigid or softbody stuff b4.

Hello,

could somebody fill me in with details about the FXwars?
I would like to join the crash competition but I don't really know how this thing works:
can it be done by individuals?
is there a price?
Are there restrictions?

thank you!
Luca

Ok ill try to answer:

can it be done by individuals?
Yep! We don't discriminate against singles!

Are there restrictions?
The rules are usually posted with the contest thread.
The usual biggie is that you should not use material from tutorials.
Per made models are ok, as long as you describe them as such.

is there a price?
Your older sister is cute,
She must be almost 28..
Is she single?
Of course I am kidding about the sister thing.
Seriously, this you can enter for free.

Have fun!

okei.....challange sounds "car crash".well can i show the accident with one car or may me car get slipped with "stone" on the road and get jumped into the air or we have to show "car crash" test in laboratory?

BTW, guys here i did just little car crash test using reactor in 3ds max 7.

what do u think guys?

i tricked with reactor.well i used toycar for car motion and noise modifier for front's collapse.
but i don't think it's a good idea.do u know any other trick to simulate car deformation?

what about morpher or simply bones driving some of the front points?

I'm definately thinking something along the lines of a slow motion matrix style crash...but something showing what happens when a car is traveling at SUPER high speeds, and pretty much disentigrates on impact. Lots of flipping and rotating and such.

I have no idea how I would actually FILM this....but I've got a few ideas up my sleeve.

Heres a test I set up 'between renderings'.

Car on the right shows the 'actual' simulation (hitting the purple concrete looking slab thing...), with car on the left just showing off the damage a little more clearly. (http://www.trapgraphics.com/shit/1.zip)

Pyke, looking really nice, somehow like a cloth simulation. Is it softbodies or cloth?

Maybe I'll join this one, if I find the time. Anyway, what are girlfriends and sleep really good for?

But remember, challenge starts next week!

Pyke

Yeah, its a simple cloth sim for the bodywork. I'm playing around with bones, and softbodies....and some morph targets...and...and.. and...

My question is, does it have to be a 'present day' car crash? Or can it be with something a little more futuristic?

hey pyke how did u read my mind?:) i m also gonna try matrix reloaded style crash but problem is in car deformation.

BTW, ur car simulation looks nice what softare do u use?

well it;s good idea did u have done any test? i m waiting to see it.:)

MAX 5 and SimCloth. For comp work, combustion 1. Man...I really need to get some software upgrades....

No, I'm still stuck with some other work. I'll wait till next week.
I would like to mix some techniques while trying to keep it simple.
I like the idea of a matrix slomo crash, but I guess everybody is going that route... so I don't know yet :)

Luca
