View Full Version : wrap text to circle?
jtothec 10-07-2002, 04:20 PM idiot question: how does one wrap text around a circle.
i need to wrap text around the outside of a circular memorial pool - i would like to be able to embed the text in the faces of that circle...
i know there's got to be an easy way to do this but i'm stumped.
ideas?

You do the text in Illustrator, then export the curves as AI.
It wont be editable text in MAX of corse, but It's an alternative :)

i wasn't quite clear last time out...
i need to wrap text around a cylinder (the outside faces) and then attach the text to it.
it should look like the text was carved out of the cylinder
sorry for the confusion

Bend Modifier? PathDeform?

You could do it with projected NURBS curves on a NURBS cylinder.
Path deform as mentioned would be another choice.
Texture mapping is probably the easiest.

thanks for the replies - i ended up going with, duh, a texture map.
don't know why but path deform, bend, etc... weren't working for me - weird
thanks again
