Hi,

I am new to XSI. I also use MAX and I prefer to work more with shortcuts.
First of all I want to assign a key for Keyboard Mapping function. As I like to change hotkeys often, I want to have a hotkey for customising my keyboard. And I can't find it under keyboard mapping interface. In MAX you can map any key to any item in the interface (at least what is in the menu). It seems to me that XSI wont let me to assign a key for any function that is on interface. Is there a way to do it? Maybe use script?

I dont see why you would need to do that , keyboard mapping is not something you change every two minutes. I have 2 different keyboard layouts , one for modeling and one for animating, You can just save them as presets and load em up quickly from the keyboard mapping editor. But you still have to go to the file menu to get there.

Keep in mind too, that XSI's keyboard shortcuts are context sensitive - so you can re-use keys depending on whether you're in the Viewport, Explorer or Fcurve Editor. For example, since I'll never be painting a weight map in the Texture Editor, I mapped W to Collapse.

You really shouldn't have to switch your keymappings - make use of Alt, Shift and Ctrl to cover as many commands as possible. And don't forget about r-clicking on objects or selections to get a context menu.

Remapping "Repeat" (under the Global Group) to something handy is another idea for improving your workflow.
