View Full Version : PA Challenge - Character - Daniel S
DanielSLimon 02-15-2002, 02:03 PM What's up people! ;)
I've been following the CGtalk challenge since a few days ago but today I've decided to participate on it (finally!) :)
I didn't have a place to upload the images and that's the main reason why I didn't enter the challenge before. Meanwhile I've been working on a model which is not very advanced by now but I promise to work hard on it this weekend to have more images to post here next week. I'll really apreciatte any sugestions!

Haha, that's great! Give him a quiver of bananas and he's set for the long trek across the desolate PA landscape :)
But, shouldn't those zippers be on the UPPER side of the shoes? I'd imagine dragging the zipper upwards, not downwards to close.

I'm glad you like it :)
I don't think he'll need bananas to go throw the desolated landscape, once you see the vehicle I'm doing for him you'll understand. :P
About the zip controversy, I just made it that way for funny purposes. Imagine him walking with them knocking on the ground with a repetitive noise, you know? As for the closing direction, it can be mechanicaly possible on both directions (I've tested it with my jacket! ;) )

Very nice and funny model Daniel... :D
mouth and nose are really better!!!
And he has got teeth now!
i've just imaginated him a little bit more thin and tall when I saw the head...(look at your private mail...)
But it's nice anyway!!!:D
So,After apocalypse Humans will return to monkey! Great! :D

funny design!
More insteresting and original than the rest, in general. We all only think in putting cables and screws over the skin. You´ve gone farther.
And don´t charge the model with a lot of details. It´s more apropiate for your character a clean, simple, elastic aspect, .
I'm agree with Wiro, the zippers should look better up.
Just my oppinion. Congratulations. I hope I could see it texturized.

I'm glad you like it, that lets me fully satisfied! ;)
Regarding the final result my will is to map it and put him into a landscape with his weapon and vehicle but it depends on time that I finally manage to do all this... I hope to get there at time, everything is in my head :D
Dammit! A P.A Monkey... once again an "original" idea of mine turns out to be already thought of and better executed...
:D
Nice Job man - very very very very very cool...
I was gonna put my monkey in a little protective bubble (or "Monkeyball" if you will GC fans ;) ) - if you could do that... just for me... it'd make me happy :D (even if it is just a little mess around render...go on!)

The zippers would be more practical the other way, simply because you unzip the boots so that you can put them on. If it unzips upwards, the opening where your foot goes through is no larger.
Looks great, though, can't wait to see where you're going with this!

After having a private chat I've decided to post my original character sketch ;)
It's an old design that is being tweaked to better fit the challenge rules :p , Vehicle is going to be more evoluted the same as the clothing, and for the weapon... you'll see.
The model is recent as I had never took it to 3D althought I was willing. The challenge has been the perfect excuse to do it.

Yes!!! that's the idea! ;) :D
This is my particular version of the Monkey-God extracted from the japanese mitology.
In the comic book "Orion" of Massamune Shirow there is a really cool representation, ¿Have you seen it?

Wooohoooo!!! I thought I wouldn't be on time!!! :D
I've had some problems with the render, it was crashing my max when doing it at a biger size. Another problem was the monkey hair. I didn't have enough time to spend on it so my monkey will remain that bald.
Well this is the final result, I hope you like it :)

Nice style ! If you´ve tweaked the hair and managed to render a higher resolution (1280 x 1024 would be OK) please post it in the 3D-Artwork forum !!!!!!!
Cool cartoon - why not make an animation ? I can see that ape passing by the viewer, screaming and balancing the hover-board ;)

Very nice start. But I also agree that the mouth and ears need some more detail. And some smoother transition between the faces of the head and the ears.
untill soon
