Hi all, looking forward to seeing everyone's work. This will be my first challenge, so I look forward to giving and receiving a good deal of helpful critique. I will post my concept art in a day or so.

Here is the update. I am doing a totem pole that is overgrown with vegitation. I modeled it out and unwrapped it already, I will start the texture later today.

I saved some polies for vegitation. I am going to paint in most of the vegitation on the texture sheets. I hope to make it mostly textural.

This is looking great so far.

yeah, lovely concepts - but, dont forget about the theme, the porp needs to be really 'owned' by nature - you mesh still looks very clean of roots / plants whatever.

I'm very curious what you'll make of it.

Here is an update guys.

My critique is that right now the vegetation doesn't seem to be growing on the statue as much as oozing out like mutigen. Also, the texture resolution on this model is higher then on the final, I am going to resize down sometime tomorrow or the next day. When is this deadline for this thing anyways?

So please, feel free to critique my texture, I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
(PS. where I am hosting my picture may be down right now, so if you don't see anything that is why <_>)

texture is great, I would add more veg to it, or make the hanging veg abit longer, cool though

i like it!
the one thing i would try is to give the green of the moss some more depth by using more than one color (as green now) - try bringing some highlights with yellow or make darker areas with a darker green to sharpen things a bit more up.

As jOBe said, I think the moss/greenery could use some different tones. I think some brown in some of the cracks (from weathering or something) and some water stains from the heavy rain that would plague such a jungle might look good. The texture looks great so far though. Also the symmetrical vines make it look a bit less believeable.

Very nice work http://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

This challenge was a good learning experience for me and I would like to thank everyone that gave me input along the way. Unfortunately, I do not have time to complete the challenge. Hopefully, next time I will be able to manage my time better, and I look forward to the next competition.
