Hi,
It's been a long time since I did a painting, and I really felt inspired to do one based on this color scheme from the area where I live...there's a few color layers:
green grass, dried yellowish grassy field, reddish purple trees, then the purple/blue mountains, and finally the sky.
I took some reference photos and sketched this concept tonight. I didn't want to keep the image only a landscape, and was always inspired by those fantasy artists who paint these magnificent background/landscapes, and have some characters in there on a smaller scale. So that's what I'm going for here with the dragon.
I'd like any input on the composition, as I think I'm quite weak in that area...I also really liked the way the tree branches go against the sky, so that's what that is in the upper left corner, I wasn't sure if I should put the whole tree in view on the side or something? I also want the dragon to look large, even though in the pic he's small..so I guess I need more items in there to get the scale right, any ideas what I can use? Maybe more trees in the foreground?
