View Full Version : 3 to 1 distorsion shader
bobtronic 05-01-2005, 06:53 PM Hi,
I made a new distorsion shader. It distorts images or shaders based on three input shaders.
here some example clips:

you can find the shaderplugin on my homepage under plugins
www.bobtronic.de
this shader is PC only at the moment
have fun,
Bob

thanks guys!
There is now a Mac version included. Download on my homepage under plugins.
I will put some example scenes together with a little description later.

bobtronic, maybe a nice toy for a few minutes fun... but...
full-frame distorsion is something I always do in 2D-post.
What`s special about doing this directly in C4D ?... additionally I guess it`s less accurate and controllable.
Maybe I´m wrong, maybe I haven't noticed the big advantage.
In my eyes, this would make only sense for people without the ability to use 2D-post software.
Even than, it seem`s that it`s limited to a few distorsion-presets.
(that 3 input-shaders in different combinations) ... or is there the chance to throw bitmaps inside ?
Please tell me more.

thanks, bob. (The sample movies don't really make it clear at first that it's a shader, not a 2d post effect.)

the advantage is you can use shaders and bitmaps as inputs. so you can for example
put a Lumas shader in one input to get light controlled distorsion. or take some noise
shaders to get interesting textures. You don't have animate the shader, I wrote it
because you can create intersting textures with it. It's similar to Cinema's Distorsion
shader but with a different distorsion algorithm.

I have to say that I never used Cinema's Distorsion shader before...
so you can for example
put a Lumas shader in one input to get light controlled distorsion
Now, this sounds quite interesting.
Before I continue asking more stupid questions, I think the best is simply to try out your shader.
thanks. :)
