View Full Version : WIP L'il Bit (Elf girl)
Anariel 04-30-2005, 11:25 PM My husband recently got me the painter program and I have been having fun trying to figure it out. I love the oil pastelsin it!
Anyway, this is the painting I've been working on today. Her name is Liliana Baronit, but her friends call her L'il Bit. She's just an elf character I'm working on for a story I'm writing.
I have no idea what to do for her dress or her body...So at the moment this is mostly just a portrait bust. Any ideas or crits?

Pic takes a long time to load, maybe compress it?
Crits: Lower her shoulders a bit, if she's not sticking her head out. And the right eye (on monitor) looks a bit misplaced, tweak it a little and it should be OK.
I suggest camo colors (natural colors). Some clothes that would stand some wear and tear and still be easy to run around in.

I just wanted to say that I love that face and the hair! The subtle lighting is exquisite already, and I think this is going to be a really good painting. =)
Did you use any references (just curious)? I have a good feeling about this work, and when I saw this pic yesterday, it inspired me to sit down and practice. =)
Keep working on it! I really want to see it finished! =)

I say: Wow
I want to see this finished. I simply love how far it is gone even right now!
Dont look at the following if u dont want to change very much
I see you wanted me to critizise: Maybe the eyebrows are missing on the right or is it just me? Well the shadow on the right of the face - the hair in the shade (well u get me right)- I suggest changing the shadow into a wee tiny bit darker and into a cold tone - so the face would stick out more. About the clothes - please just dont do anything that has metal in it - the elves should not wear metal, that is a wrong fanasy from things like LOTR and warcraft and warhammer ect. Elves loved the nature so much that they used not metal, but clothes. yes, metal harnaccment hurts nature - all those gasses and burning of wood or dead wood - coal. Anyway...the ears should be tweaked also, because they look out like trangles stuck onto a normal ear - ehh, I dont know how to say this, but if the tip's curved fles (on the edges) would go lilbit tigher... it would also do better if u would bring the bottom of the triangle so close to the normal part of the ear so that there would not be a gap...

Oh, I'm sorry...I actually had a feeling that you were a girl. Women usually make more "delicate paintings". This one definitely has a more sensitive lighting scheme.
This might be fun for you too. Are there many women in CG ? (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=236082)
