I have modelled a character(The Thing from the fantastic Four) and am having trouble with the texturing. I have the UV's laid out properly but the UV snapshot that I take, 2048*2048, is too small for the detail in the face. Is it possible to take separate snapshots of various body parts and put them together using one material? or do I have to use a separate material for each snapshot that I take( ie: head snapshot with blinn1, torso snapshot with blinn2)? or am I totally on the wrong track? I need the texture to run seamlessly from his head/neck area to his torso and if I make the head UV map larger than everything else the rock texture has thicker lines in it than the rest of the body. I have heard of UV linking but do not know how it works so an explanation of that would be great too.

thanks,
Steve

You'll have to have different materials on each UvSets.

I'm in exactly the same boat. I am mapping a snake, and on a 1024 map, the body doesn't contain enough detail, I need that particular section of uv on a different map. I've gone into the material relationship editor, and I've created a second uvset, and copied the uvs there...BUT, when I select the set in the relationship editor, I can only choose the material thats currently applied to the model. No other materials are shown. Why is this?
