How do I get this grainy paper look as a canvas to draw on? Can painter generate it, or do I have to draw the paper like that by hand and then save as template?

Hi,

Either scan a paper or other material and capture it as a Paper or use Painter's features and brushes to create it. To learn how, read the following:

Painter IX > Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Textures, Patterns, and Weaves

Painter 8 > Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Using Textures, Patterns, and Weaves

Painter 7 > Help > Help Topics > Contents tab > Painter 7 Help > Applying Art Materials > the two sections named Using Paper Textures and Using Patterns

If you're using an earlier Painter version, use the same or similar terminology to find the information in your User Guide or via the Help menu.

TIP that may not be mentioned in Help > Help Topics:

You can create a Pattern then capture first as a Pattern, then capture it again as a Paper.
