View Full Version : Shave and Tiger troubles
Hello
I got a dual 2.7 machine today so I'm busy trying to install the same kit as on my Tibook, however, I've run into a problem with Shave. It works fine in 9.1 on the Tibook running OsX 10.3.9 but crashes consistently using Tiger in C4D 9.1.
The installation sequence is this:
Install 9 from CDs. Install Shave from CD. Install Shave patch - at which point shave works without crashing. Install C4D 9.1 update - after which shave cnsistently crashing on hitting grow hair. Don't suppose anyone might have any ideas how to resolve this? Help is appreciated as always.
TIA

Are you maybe using the stormtracer? If it's not the latest build it will crash shave.
cheers

From reports im getting "Tiger" is breaking 3D apps all over creation
My advice:stay with panther for your main production machines for now
Thanks for the reply Mauves. No I don't have Stormtracer yet. I can't quite pin down exactly what the problem is because on the old system I first installed shave to C4D8.2 then copied that over to R9 plugins and it just worked as Richard at Maxon UK advised. But this time I don't have R8.2, just 9 which seems to work fine with shave as long as I don't update to 9.1 - obviously not acceptable :)
If no-one else has come across this I will ask Maxon.
Thank you
Boxy
BTW, something most of you probably take for granted now, but two thread renders in action - flickin awesome or what? this system is taking a minute to render stuff which used to take 10 minutes on the TiBook and that's just with the default 512 RAM. Can't wait until crucial get their act together hee.

uh oh, you see this is exactly why I've never been an early adopter but I had no choice this time.

Boxy,
can you give us an idea of cb scores on your 2.7? I'm looking at getting one myself. How is the openGL with Tiger?
thanks.

Hi Bathgate
I'll post that up soon if you promise to translate it into something I understand ;)
I'm certainly more than happy with it at the moment but with the default 512mb of RAM it will only get better. I'm awaiting another 6GB which might improve things a tad!

Looks good, boxy. Good render scores. Man, it must feel like a different world in C4D now!??! Congrats on a nice machine
I think I'll get something similar - wish they had the x800 as an option now too.

Yeah I wanted to upgrade the card on BTO but aside from the nvidia 6800 I didn't get a choice. Guess this one will do for a while anyway.
It does feel like a different universe. Not just in Cinema either. I only got a 20 inch monitor but hell compared to the 15in TiBook its like an infinite plain! Life is getting very tasty!
Good luck with your purchases

Lol - kind of ironic- the rest of my RAM arrived. I finally have enough kit to mess with shave and yet I cannot use it because it crashes C4D :banghead:
I don't suppose you have any ideas do you Srek?
Thanks
