Hi Renato. I had a question about NOTA. Say i have a model of a car. I then explode all its polygon faces into segments. Can i then make all those segments rotate, scale, move, etc. with NOTA?

If you want to understand better try this:

Make cube editable
select all faces/polygons
disconnect --uncheck preserve groups
function--explode segments

you should see all the faces exploded into its own sub object of the cube.

danb: Yes, i just tried it now :)

I never decomposed polygons to objects.

Thanks

Awesome, could you show a pic or screen grab of this please? Also can i try this out with NOTA Lite?

RenatoT

Sure, you can. With Nota Lite you can move from a reference object to Keyframed position of all polyobject.

givme a bit.. i've decomposed a Torus with 648 faces, just setup a little animation

But if you Disconnect all poly from a car.. You can't recompose the polygons.... today :).

About this i've starting to write PolyNota.. that can help you with this type of stuff :)

I was happy with primitive Houdini Sop. :)

Where is the downloadlink?

From the C4D-Plugins-page, link above, just click on the nota-animation-window and on the following window in the lower right corner.

Thx RenatoT!

Hi Renato, thanks for doing that quick animation. That came out excellent. It is more than i had thought of though. What i was thinking of was just to rotate the faces in place.

So that when you have the torus you just have the faces rotate in place 360 degrees.

I saw this technique on a toyota scion commercial. The faces rotated to reveal a different color of the faces on the backside. It was an excellent commercial i'll see if i can find it.

When i played the animation i see that face was not rotating and a twist on path will be useful :)

I'm working to PolyNota to do this faster and easier.

Do you have a link for Toyota spot?

will polyNota be part of Nota, or another separate plugin?

Hi Renato, i am making an example animation right now and will post it soon. You will see what i mean about the rotation. Although i would like to control the rotation by another objects position. So that i can make a wave type effect.

Sorry i can't find that toyota commercial. Anyone know the one i am refering to? Just saw it a few days ago. In USA.

PolyNota will be a new plugin because Nota is born to make Crowd sequential animations with objects and polynota is a "particle" type generator.

Actually i can perfectly describe what i am refering to. If you've ever seen a proffesional baseball or football game in the US you probably have seen the "Wave". The fans stand up and sit down to form a "Wave" of people that moves along the seats of the stadium.

I would like to do this with an objects polygons' or a group of objects. Hope that helped explain it.

oh Yes :)

i'm my site there is an animation that rotate all cube like a wave.. maybe similar to your wave.

Before i forgot to tell that PolyNota will be out at discount price for Nota Users (about 50%).

Hi Renato,

http://www.renascent.nl/m29.htm

Would the above effect be possible with polynota? Blowing a polyobject up into fragments and morphing it into another polyobject, with advanced animation controls over the movement of the fragments?

cheers

Mauves, i always wanted that same effect too. I thought that Pblurp could do it but one is only limited to a very finite path. Matterwaves can achieve this closely but not totally sure about that, and not sure if it has the same effect. More of a fake i think.

I know, Pblurp does the morphing trick but is very restricted otherwise. What would be great is that you could actually influence the fragments with TP forces such as gravity, attraction or repulsion, but AFAIK you can't. So very limited indeed.

Yes, i think that can be done.. better :) with a powerful nota control.

i'll insert a optimize inside.. so the geometry will be connected when poly are at start position

He Renato,

Any news about Polynota development? I know you've been pretty busy with your latest plugin but one never knows.
