View Full Version : Amorphium/ZBrush
XYZRGB 04-29-2005, 01:47 AM How is Amorphium different from ZBrush ?
( ducks for cover )
Amorphium 1.0 was my first 3D program ever ( seven years or so ago )
I noticed both had a similar interface, realtime sculpting, 3Dpainting etc.
The little app. ran fine even on my 133 Mhz machine.
How is it that ZBrush / Amorphium can display such impressive poly counts * on such crappy slow machines, yet other programs choke on half the amount ?
( * and let you sculpt the mesh shaded in realtime too ! )

While amorphium lets you sculpt your models in a slightly similar way to zbrush it's a totally different application. I used Amorphium3 a long time ago and for what it is, it's not too bad...okay render engine and fun sculpting tools. The subd modeler on it wasn't that bad but they really could've made it better. Zbrush is just ...well, Zbrush. It's hard to compete with and hard to compare to anything else out there on the market. They could've done so much more with Amorphium but it's too bad that the company that actaully coded it doesn't update it. ElectricImage only resells it, not developes it...also I'm not sure how Zbrush can handle such a polygon count, it's a mystery. :P

Zbrush handles a lot of polygons because it's from the future....and something about PIXOLS... ;)

Hmm..I thought it was the alien technology that made it so fast.
