Ok i just checked 3d worlds forum and the c4d thread is in a sorry state ( forum.3dworldmag.com )

They're now looking for tips to publish now for all packages... i figure we need to make a stronger presence felt there in the hope that c4d will get more coverage, and in the end more recognition. So i've posted three tips that i've posted around here... you go and do this too the thread is

http://forum.3dworldmag.com/viewtopic.php?p=1770#1770

so comeon people, let's get ourselves noticed!!!

Good idea.

On a related note, I've got a lot of respect for Adam Watkins, who does 3D World's Cinema tutorials, but his last offering was just pathetic. If you didn't see it, his premise was that you have to buy a plugin in order to extrude edges in Cinema, and he proceeded to demonstrate a workaround using face extrusions. Now, since everybody--with the apparent exception of Mr. Watkins--knows that Edge Extrude is *free*, the workaround was a total waste of time.

its probably because Adam was only aware of EEpro which is available for a small price

Probably, but you'd think he'd be a little more in touch. Makes you wonder if he even still uses Cinema.

Ok...I love this mag....I think its a testament to its editorial team that they made a break with the normal and included a C4d tutorial at all.....They need to be applauded for their efforts. Granted sometimes you see competing software tutorial offerings and it makes you think damn...i wanted that. Not a laser beam...but the think the eye tutorial gave you some insight at least. Despite this c4d imo should be in the press more often with sort of tutorial. The press very much represent c4d as a niche product and not a major player....articles like this change people perceptions.

I agree with mdme_sadie if possible the c4d web community needs to participate on this site...albeit to keep c4d in the press...in 3dworld mag. AdamT i'm not knocking what youre saying as i think what youre saying is true....but Adam Watkins doing a tutorial in imo was a bit of a coup by 3dworld.

mdme_sadie: just had an after thought about this...why don't we go about it in the way you did. In that we archive any of the tips from cgtalk forum and re-post those clipped archives back to 3dworld site giving us an instant tip archive resource for future use? This then cuts down on time surfing various forums...?
wadda ya think?

sounds good, at least it will keep c4d out there... also try to think up some really cool tutorial that would make those who're using alternate software go "damn i wish i had that" cos there's a good chance that it may get published. :)

i'm planning on making a c4d section on my site with materials tips tutorials downloads etc sometime soon, so that will be a repository, i'll also maybe make it possible for other people to upload tips/tutorials in html format... sort of like a forum where each thread has no responses. and of course i'll be wanting all the best materials out there :) i'll see, depending on the traffic i might have to upgrade my account... apparently this month so far i've gone through 200mb of traffic, and that's just from the thinking particles softbodies files. my current limit is 20gb, but i figure if i have a whole c4d reference/community thing going on in there too it might get a bit heavier than that. :\ well anyhow go out and make sure people see c4d and think some cool project... just like with lightwave poeple think star-trek/armageddon/jimmy neutron, and maya they think stuart little/ice age. the only way we'll do that is by working from the grass roots up, start small, getting people to notice us in a good way... from there it can only get better :)

well for myself I say nay :( partly because of bad history with a certain editor, but seriouslyif I wan somemting pubished there, I want a pay cheque. The tips and tricks are more of goal to help the online communitys. If you wanna point the tips and trick from CGtalk there, I would prefer if you simply posted a link to them, though credit will not go to those that write them anyways.

no thats not what I mean't, if you post tips you have picked up on the net from this forum or any other...then make sure you give credit for that work to the people who did the work in the first this is a given. right!

My intention is to make sure 3dworld don't loose interest in c4d really by making sure they see the c4d net community are responding to their monthly tutorial section.:D

Can't say i'll be hanging around that forum really...some nameless one has taken it on himself to answer all questions posted to c4d forum as it "you can do it better in maya/xsi/lightwave" this may well be the case but, when a new user wants an answer to a c4d question it doesn't help really....much more love over a cgtalk. it was just a thought to keep interest in the forum after a rather poor showing by c4d users really.

sorry don't get me wrong I'm not saying you guys woudn't give credit, I'm saying that 3D worls woudn't give credit as they haven't done in the past when stealing reviews and such under the name computer arts :\
