I noticed this Pic of the Day post at e-on the other day

and noted some of the cool sub-surface scattering effects achieved by Vue 5 Infinite. I have the software but can't get the effect - does anyone have any ideas how these effects are produced? If so would you mind posting a tutorial? (I've sent an email request to the original author, hopefully Mr. Cullerre Paul can respond here)
