Mercury is almost exactly like chrome.
Black color in the diffuse channel
specular level - 200
glossiness - 75 - 85
if your using a standard material, put a raytrace map in the reflection channel and leave the strength at 100.
is it possible with 3d max?
Basically anything is possible with any 3d app. If it's not directly possible... then there's most likely a work around.
