View Full Version : Model crashing max

Hey all. I made a model in Max and then exported it to zbrush and detailed it. When I try to open the newest model (the high res one) I can't do it. Anyone with a suggestion? Also, I'm trying to rig it, and I know I can open a lower res version of the model, but how can I transfer the rig from the low res to the high res?

Zbrush allows for much higher poly counts in a viewport per sytem resource unit compared to that of standard 3d program. I have 512mb ram on my main computer and it bogs down pretty bad each time I re-import my model from zbrush. If you are using any more that 5 subdivisions in zbrush with under a gig of ram, expect it to crash when imported. If ram isn't the issue I have no idea. Hope this helps.

Knock the detail down a few levels in zBrush before export and use the displacement mapping features of max to get your detail back (there's plenty of tutes on this)

the problem is that i'm using max 6 and i haven't found anything good about displacement mapping for this version. also, i have a gig and a half of memory and i'm using 5 sub divs from zbrush
