View Full Version : Blending UV maps

I'm using a blend shape to morph a human head into a lion head, which is fine in terms of geometry, but I can't find any way to make the uvs move to accomodate the new shape of the geometry.

If anyone knows if it's possible to blend between uv maps (essentially a blend shape for uvs rather then vertices) or any ideas, I'd really appreciate it

Cheers,
Chris

When using layered textures, you can have separate UV maps for each color map. So map your human face and do ANOTHER map for the lion. Then create a layered texture with the human skin on top and the lion on the bottom. As you increase transparency on the human, the lion will "show through" until the human has 100% transparency, and you are looking at your lion. You don't want to animate UV's at all in this case.

You might also want to create an expression for the human texture's transparency, so that it is equal to the position of the blendshape slider. Then you can animate back and forth as much as you want and always have the right texture blend automatically without keying anything.

If you want, PM me and I'll make a mini-tut, because I'm pretty sure I know what you're trying to do. It's a cool idea, and I'd be happy to help out.
