" A French children's book author who claimed Disney's blockbuster Finding Nemo copied a fish of his creation, was convicted of fraud Wednesday and ordered to pay about $80,000 US in damages and legal fees.
Franck Le Calvez had argued that the lovable title character in Finding Nemo was based on his smiling orange-and-white clown fish named Pierrot. "

Serves the guy right.
It's like the recent thing with Wendys (a fast-food chain) over here. Some lady said she found a human finger (literally a severed finger) in her chili (and so she sued Wendys). Well...turns out the cops busted her and found that it was fraudulent, and that she has a record of fraudulence in her past. But....that didn't stop Wendys from losing a couple million dollars in sales....so she did more damage than she planned.
Although $80,000 seems a bit much (the guy's probably going to be paying it off for many years to come)...trying to ruin the reputation of a major studio like Pixar by screaming "plagiarism" is not a smart move...and can have other reprocussions (although I doubt Pixar has lost any sales due to this guy's claim).
Makes me wonder what'll happen to the lady who claims she wrote the original story for the Matrix.

Maybe she cuted her pinky toe, for the amount that she though she would get from it maybe a new one will just come out!
