Hi there..
While weighing a character of mine, I noticed that my arms were turning black when rotated. I displayed normals and they seemed to be facing correctly. When I added a 'smooth' to the stack the problem went away and when I coverted a copy to subD's with a wrap deformer, the problem also stopped. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can solve the problem just using the polygon mesh?
Here are some before and after pics of what is going on. Thanks much.

And the subD's looking better..

Please note that deformation corrections for the volume loss and shape haven't been applied to the arm yet. I need to fix this first before moving on. Any help would be great. Thanks again
