View Full Version : Alpha channels and transparency
kabukiman 04-23-2005, 10:30 AM I have created an alpha channel in ps which is intended to show what i want the printer to cutoff. I want to add text to the file then place it in indesign. How can i preserve the alpha channel? On a side not is this a standard workflow? Should I be adding the text using indesign or what?
cheers

stick your text in ID, much better.
ID supports PS's transparancy so cut off what you dont want and save it as a .PSD and import that.

Thx for the response. I think I phrased it wrong however. I need the bit to be cutoff to be a speration (i.e a seperate plate). I've created a clipping path in ps and it indeed cuts off the bit i want but i need this to be on a seperate plate (a seperation) can i assign this a spot colour or what is the best way to achieve this? (a standard way)
(for example i have cymk seps and this cutoff sep)
cheers
oic...yeh, just select the 5th channel and make it a spot channel and it will seperate :)
