LCD or CRT or both for 3D animation & Web Development? Xeon w/ integrated graphics?

Thank you for your time. I'd like to ask why Apple is using LCDs when most people know graphics related work like 3D animation and graphics editing is better in CRT? Is there something that Apple knows about using the LCD that others don't know when it comes to graphics and 3D animation? Same question with web development.

yes they know that lcds are more sleek and sexy, and apple's user base will want them. They still aren't quite acceptable for color work though. (though they are getting much closer)

Also, would it be better to have an LCD and a CRT working together. Would it be better to have one 21" or higher monitor than two 17" or two 19" all at their native resolution? Btw, if they are in their native resolution does it automatically mean that the measurement you see in the screen is the same as in real life?

LCD and CRT together can be a nice combo, one drawback is that since your likely to pull the lcd forward so that it's flush with the crt, you'd be wasting all that space that you gain by having an lcd in the first place. as for the second question that is entirely up to you. I'd prefer to have the 21" though as i don't really care for the 5:4 aspect ratio of 17 and 19 inch lcds. and no, native resolution does not mean that at all. basically lcds can only display things in one resolution... that would be the highest resolution that it can display... anything lower is just getting scaled up across those very same pixels. it's not like a crt that actually changes resolutions. Thus, you want to run them at the native resolution whenever possible as it looks much sharper/better. your computer has no idea how big images of things are in real life.

Xeon with integrated graphics or an Athlon 64 with an AGP card?


I'd also like to ask since 3D rendering is mostly done by the CPU, if a single Xeon (Opteron not available) with integrated graphics is better than an Athlon 64 and an AGP card setup? Does a Intel's board for the Xeon really need ECC memory or can you just use a normal DDR on an Intel Xeon motherboard? Can you use a normal ATX casing on an Intel Xeon motherboard. What is Inte'l minimum power supply requirement for this motherboard?

well, integrated graphics are generally gonna suck. you probably won't be able to anything but render. besides athlon64 is very fast. don't know about the ecc question, i'd guess you need it. don't really know about the other questions, usually the mobo is the least of your concerns when figuring out how much power you need though.

Has anyone had a good experience on using a wireless keyboard and mouse, probably using it from afar from a sofa, a recliner or better yet, a bed with a big monitor doing 3D work?
