RenaudG 10-03-2002, 11:20 PM Hi,
Has somewone tried the two new deformers in R8 ?
All new features seams great (except maybe the flash export), but nothing was said yet about the deformers... would like to know more about them.
Thanks

Ihave seen tonnes of examples, nut they were all really early in the testing process. here is an example that I found from my own tests of the spline deforemer, not as functional of a test as many others I have seen. somone had an example of using posemixer on a spline and then using the splines as a deforemer for lips making for really easy lipsync with less resources wasted on the other poses too.

as for Spline rail I only have one sample I made myself and it simply won't do it justices, I'll see if I can permission to post somone elses far more impressive examples tonight.

they're a little hard to understand... what with all the other things i'd completely forgotten about these. the spline deformer appears to take a splines intersection with your object and pulls out + bends in the shape of a second spline... but i'm not sure... the spline rail deformer seems to be something along the lines of pulling an object's y or z shape into line with a spline of your choice... in fact with four... still not 100% sure how to make it work :/ still they both seem pretty powerful, and rather different to the deformers in the way that they work.

I will write a how to for the spline deformer tongiht with a few screenshots. as for the spline rail, I understand how it works, but seriously you should see what some of the maxon guys did with it, I can't even think in a way to get results like them. Maybe Rick or someone else there could do a howto or something tomorrow. mine are al a simple cube deforming not very good really.
Should have the how to posted in two hours or so if thats okay. need to go for a short walk nd get some fresh air/excercise, I haven't been blinking enough today, my eyes are burning :)
:wavey: look for it in a bit.

Hi
I have uploaded some some pictures, animations (and the scenes, of course ;) ) on my homepage. Open http://www.thomaskunert.de and click on Cinema4D R8.
The scenes are very simple - just meant to show how it works.

man I'm getting all you guys involved in this, these were exactly the example I was thinkning of. I'm just not smart enought to think of things like this for the splinerail deformer.

The more I see all this, the more impatient I become. I do hope they won't forget to send the Early Birds to Belgium...or am I the only one???

Behold this poor boy, whose patience runs out;
In his deepest despair he wants to shout:
"Maxone, my love, how long do I have to wait
'till I can play with your *****in version Eight?"
But she hardly listens and does not reply
Because she's in love with a boy named Kaiskai.
Greetz,
E.
