Hi guys.

Just a gripe i think maxon may like to look at.

if i load in a textured up model into cinema, even a fairly simple one, if i havent pre-specified the texture path locations first before hand before i load in the model, cinema grinds to a halt when i either go to the material editor to review the mapped materials, or it takes absolutely ages in prepairing the mesh at the beginning of a render.

pre-specifying the material path make c4d run like clockwork, but if i dont and i have textured materials in the scene that have unspecified paths, c4d is completely un-usable.

does anybody else find this? and any suggestions how to remedy it maybe?

Hi,
this happens when you have large foldertrees or even network drives set in the texture path.
CINEMA has to search trough all those directories and drives to find a matching bitmap file.
One of the worst scenarios is listing a CD-ROM drive in the texture paths. If no or the wrong CD is in the drive this will result in a major lag.
Cheers
Björn

cheers Srek. yup, thought so.

i do use my works network drives for textures. runs as smooth as butter if specified, but un-usable if not.

this is only a problem usually if i load up an old model to work on again, and i cant remember the texture paths. takes up to half hour to find out the material locations. really frustrating.

yes i have the same problem, i reported this since version 7.
it also happens if you import an older file from our libary, which has set a different path.

as i suggested it would be nice to have an option to stop a task with esc. key.
this would solve it.

so you could stop the rendersearch, specify the folder, and then the textures seems to be ok.

hope maxon can have a look a that.
(we also have all textures at a networkdrive, its a vary fast raid. but we have many gb of texture collections and gb of libary modells. so no slow netdrives, everything configured fine and no cdroms)

thanks
