Title: Monet
Name: Jeroen Stout
Country: Netherlands
Software: (Other), 3ds max
After a good friend of mine mentioned she liked Monet -an image I made reminded her of him- I decided to surprise her with a 1-day project, recreating a Monet in 3d, as if the painter turned back days or even years later to see what became of the scene he once painted - bringing the painting with him, so he could compare.
The painting I choose was "Champ de ble (Field of Corn)", as it was very coloured and had a good atmosphere - I tend to make very dark images, so it was fun to make a very dry sunny image, brightly lit. The scene was easy in theory, though the crazy amount of grass turned me insane (my computer would like to add that if I ever try to render something like this again, he demands an upgrade), as well as making the background (because at the time I reached the point where I made the background, I had reached day 1and65, getting in a "I'll fiddle with this and it'll be fine"-mood). Still, the end result is pleasing to me, and she really loved it.
Btw, I didn't really want to go for realism, rather for atmosphere and use of colours - but critics on anything are greatly appreciated, I'm looking forward to hear what you think of this image! (Though any comments on the painting should go to Monet himself, though I've been told he's difficult to reach :) )
Still, in the meantime, thanks for viewing!
Cheers,
-Jeroen
