Hi I am wondering how to set up a muscle system rig for a character? Are there any popular approaches? I know that you can do all the deformation using shape animation... But there must be other more advanced ways...

Also if you guys know any good tutorials or websites of muscle system please share! I already know one (wwww.cgmuscle.com)

Thanks in advance.

Also a guy called Warwick Mellow created this amazing animation of Greek god Pan. (in 2002?)

Thanks a lot! I use xsi instead of maya; also I am not planning to buy any plug-ins. Also it seems quite complicated to me (I am not a technical person).

I am currently studying on this easier solution (http://xsi.fie.us), hopefully this can contribute to a project I am currently doing.

these muscle Deformation tests have been done with maya with no use of plugins through Influence objects...

the movie file is

Hey Funxer that is looking really really good! I have just looked at your thread, the anatomy is quite accurate (except the butt doesnt look firm enough :))

So.... briefly, the first step is modeling the whole character, then bone geometry, then muscle, and then bind the skin mesh to the muscles.

I have 2 questions on your approach. (I dont use maya)

First one is why do you use NURBS sphere for muscle modeling? any paticular reasons?

Second one is about skin binding. Is the 'skin' here the character mesh you modeled on the 1st step? If so after you bound the skin will the whole character be deformed? If not then what is that?

Thanks friend!

wen_eb yo thanks....yeah I hope to fix the model I don't really Like her face, and there are some proportion issues I'd Like to take care of as well....

As for why I use Nurbs they seem to process quicker than polys and they are easy to deform. The Skin Mesh is Bound to the Muscle System....The Maya Joints have very little control over the Skin, The Skin mesh is bound to the muscles

have you seen the demo videos over at www.cometdigital.com (http://www.cometdigital.com) there in the gallerysome of the muscle scuplting stuff looks as if it's really easy to fix and move the muslces and skin even after it's all rigged up.
