I'm not much of a artist or student of art myself (nor much of a computer graphics artist), but I do like art/images;/graphics.
My question today is...
What type or style of art/graphics would the graphics that are found at http://radiouniverse.com fall into? (Visit the "About" pages from the sites drop down menu's)
Also, I'd appreciate hearing back from others with links to other similar types of graphic compositions that the graphics at the above site might remind you of.
I'm curious about the techniques that are likely being used to generate images like thos found at the site above. Any tips, technique tutorials, etc that could help me to better understand how images like these are created would also be appreciated.

its simple, start up maya, max, lightwave, 4D or other 3D app. make scene, render ..... boom! sorry if that was sarchastic, I was just trying to be funny. well its a long string of individually long processes combined with personal approaches of each artist.
personally I would make the mountains with a displacementmap with a bumpmap and make the sky in photoshop afterwards. regarding the style, I dont know. we could call it environments landscape... too bad its mirrored on the vertical axis..

I was working on a documentary and only had this weekend to get music for it but I just heard the coolest Raga song on the planet and taped the entire damn thing by chance except the first 2 seconds. I'm in your debt dear sir, and a hearty welcome to you here at cgtalk...:bowdown:

Looks like classic Bryce to me, but I could be wrong.

Agreed, it looks very Bryce-ish. Could also be Terragen (http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/) though, I suppose.
With the level of detail in the terrain, I'd actually be impressed if it was made in a 3d app like Maya, Max or XSI.

Some of them are definitely bryce. (you can get bryce now for 50 bucks with an academic discount, daz is said to be releasing the next version 5.5 soon, after 3 years of abandonment by corel, the previous owner)
A few may be either mojoworld (http://www.pandromeda.com/products/) or artmatic voyager http://www.uisoftware.com/Voyager/index.html
Bryce does not have infinite terrain support.
Artmatic voyager is an app designed by bryce's original designer eric wenger, but adds infinite terrain support as well as procedural environments (similar to the so called "new" technology in vue, tho mojoworld has being doing this for years)

The cloud plains aren't volumetric so that leaves out worldbuilder and vue, why use 2d if you can go 3d oin such a case.
