View Full Version : Objects disappear in Renders... ?

I am having a very frustrating experience... I've developed a scene, everything works fine, renders fine when I do test renders, etc. However, when I queue up my project for a batch render and let it run, the sequence has a strange issue where random objects disappear here and there... I'm fully aware of clipping planes (checked them, they are fine), fully aware of normal issues (checked, doubled checked), this is just eluding me here thoroughly.

Anyone have a situation where their rendered sequence had random blackouts of areas or arbitrary artifacts and found some good solutions to it? I know anti-aliasing, clipping planes and normals are *not* the problem, so any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was having a weird problem with some objects in my scene disappearing during renders and staying in the scene in others... I had people telling me it was a clipping plane problem, but a friend of mine looked through the scene and tried some different things, and he ended up finding out that it was actually some bad geometry. I had a mix of SUBD-ed objects and poly objects, and I had used PolyTools to make the poly objects (not really sure if THAT was the problem with them, but who knows). Basically, when he was messing around with the scene and adding new splits or something, he found that those objects were appearing in the scene again.

The solution that I had used involved re-modeling the floor (it was really simple and fast, so I just re-modeled it), and then just converting the other disappearing objects to SUBD's and it fixed it. Now this solution may not be desirable if your objects that are disappearing are complex at all or if you don't want to bother re-texturing SUBD-ed versions. I assume you're using poly objects?

well try duplicating the object and see if that helps anything. Also, under the rendering menuset run the render diagnostics. That will tell you if you have any issues that will, or possibly will effect rendering; Especially if it's funky geometry.

Thanks for the helpful responses so far.

The thing that is so strange is that in some of the frames the geometry shows fine, and in others not at all...
I tried duplicating the geometry, but same issue. I rebuilt it for now and that seems to work, but strange strange.

I will take the suggestion of running render diagnostics so I can read up on what might be at the root.

Any other ideas out there or suggestions on things to do? It's frustrating because the "broken" geometry is a simple polygonal boolean differenced plane and sphere. Oh well, just have to keep pressing on I presume.

Thanks again.
