View Full Version : R8 - Generate UV Map?
visualsee 10-03-2002, 12:15 PM Is there a way to generate a UV map in R8 or do I need Bodypaint for this? I know there were a few freebie tools for R7 (I have a couple of them), but they aren't perfect and don't always work right so I'm hoping that this was added to R8, otherwise I may splurge for a copy of BP.
I'm looking for something similar to Lightwave where it spews out an EPS file (or PSD, BMP...) that I can load into photoshop or illustrator and then paint on and bring back into the software to use as a UV texture.

I'm hoping for this as well. It seems as if other packages do this as a standard feature.
At the moment I use uvmapper which imports an obj. file (which you can export from c4d). You can then try out different mapping types and adjust the layout before saving the object and the texture (it saves the texture as a pict file which can be opened in photoshop).

I used a plug-in that creates a bitmap that can be used in just about any paint program. The only problem is you can't tweak the map. Where did you get uvmapper at. Sounds just like what I need, short of buying Bodypaint.
