Title: Heady Bnw
Name: Jocelyn Da Prato
Country: Canada
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, ZBrush

A try to have a 3D still very close to my drawing style, sketch, black n white, no clean render, some polygons pointing everywhere, displacement to increase the lost of polygon. Enjoye and critic if it will be constructive. =D

Looks good. Interesting character. Do you have a drawn version of this image? This way we could see if you matched your drawing style or not...

Good work, Hauke

Cool image, I wonder what are they doing? Mastermind tower maybe:)? The character is great, althoug I'm not too sure about the drapery, looks a bit stiff. Of course it might be just the nature of the material...

Very strange, very affective image. The hands remind me of the Mystics from the "Dark Crystal".

Very detail stuff man. I like how you kept it black and white. It really gives it mood a very scary/creepy mood. Keep it up. Just wondering, what is his larger hands on? Is it his belly?

Great Work! Love the style, and everything about it. Maybe only small thing is the logo or whatever to call it on the head could be placed in a better spot, but thats a tiny thing.
excellent!

really interesting and fine picture.. somlething of the old Fritz Lang movies, wich is a really pleasure!... the "smoking" effect is also a part of that black and white feeling!... FINE!!

Thx man for your comment. 'I'm not too sure about the drapery'
yhea, i know, i have done this part very quick, im an impatient guy and for me its a boring thing to do this, but in this case, the stiff style is acceptable, but not perfect =D

magsnus:
'Maybe only small thing is the logo or whatever to call it on the head could be placed in a better spot'
Yhea, its true, i have done also very quickly, haha. I want to find a nice pipeline to create CG picture fastly, i dont like pass a lot of time on one thing, i want to go closely of making a sketch in black in white...

For drawing, hum, i dont have many, but you could see some sketch in my none-updated website: http://daprato.no-ip.com

Here its my low wireframe. I know i know, its not perfect, the modeling is not 'clean' but i dont matter. Im lazy a little bit to take time to do some 3D, and in most case to have a nice wire. So, its simply for information, and show my mistake or my impatient.
Maybe cause im more a PSD guy then 3D, we will see this in the next few years.
Bravo to all 3D guy work hard on their polygon, your very strong and patient.
Thx.

Congrats on getting into the choice gallery, DaPrato. You deserve it. I was kinda disappointed at first when I saw this one starting to disappear in the finished work gallery.

Yes Daprato, wires are not clean but you are in the gallery.
We have learned the lesson.

Are you reading Borges now?

Thanks.

Awsome job, love the scene. If I may, I know your style is to have some polygons pointing everywhere. But, it just seems a little off to me, the jaggedness around the eyes and face just seem to conflict with the smoothness of the upper head.

Thats great work. But the only crit I have is the decal on the guys head. It dosn't make too much sense to me. "Why is it there?" and "Why is it placed RIGHT there in that spot?" are questions that come into my mind when I saw it. It looks like it was placed there only to get into the shot from the "camera".

But besides that, I think everything else is dope like the pope!

Nice atmosphere and interesting image. The hand on the bottom right of the image has a strong pose. The other three hands I feel don't have as strong a shape. They feel stuffed and not under the characters control. Other than that... Great stuff. :)

This is really great. The character design is really strong. If there were moving they would be really creepy I'm sure.

I haven't read the whole thread, soz, but is there a thought process behind these guys? Do you imagine them doing something specific? From a bigger idea? Or where you just going for cool characters. Well you certainly succeeded.

Great work! The fingers creeped me out a bit, they are pretty close to just skeleton fingers :)

The face looks very similar to Davros, an evil genius who invented the Daleks on Doctor Who. Both he and your work really stand out!:thumbsup:
