Aenvil 04-19-2005, 03:39 PM Hello All,
This is my first post, although I have been quite a frequenter to this site.
I'm looking for critiques, comments and concerns, on my animation.
Please hold nothing back, I have my bull skin on.

I find it wierd that the "coach" is wearing pads and a helmet. He looks more like a player to me. His Right arm looks very "IK" during that whole first part. It looks pinned in the air. For the most part I like your acting choices to get out of the chair and such. But that last point doesn't read as clearly as it should. I think partly because he is pointing straight into the camera. I don't know how else you could do it because there is no other character. Which brings up a great point, why is there not a player that he is talking to? You could get some really great reactions from the player, that could be an animation gold mine! I know it would be alot more work but I think it would help this piece out alot. I personally am not a fan of having the character just talk straight to the camera. But that is just my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for replying Disrupt.
I find it wierd that the "coach" is wearing pads and a helmet. It's just a standard rig I have, I should have actually typed player...ooops He looks more like a player to me. His Right arm looks very "IK" during that whole first part. Totally agree, I found it difficult to animate the IK while his upper body is moving, but I posted the Fix on the same link..Only it's a playblast. It looks pinned in the air. For the most part I like your acting choices Thanks, wasn't sure if the Boy scout thing would read. to get out of the chair and such. But that last point doesn't read as clearly as it should. I think partly because he is pointing straight into the camera. I don't know how else you could do it because there is no other character. Which brings up a great point, why is there not a player that he is talking to? Well, I'm still in the process of learning with one character, Hopefully soon I can do a dual acting piece. You could get some really great reactions from the player, that could be an animation gold mine! Maybe I'll resurface this animation when I'm ready for Two characters. I know it would be alot more work but I think it would help this piece out alot. I personally am not a fan of having the character just talk straight to the camera. But that is just my opinion. Keep up the good work.

the only thing that i notice was the point at the end its too fast.may be hold it for the "think " and bring its back towards the end of " have'nt". very cool peice to sync keep it coming
ps i like the pads, its like he cant let go of the glory days when he could have been a contender

Yeah, I guess I've been watching it too many times. I posted the fix and it looks better. Thanks.

Maybe I should put up some old memorabillia on the wall, some 13th place trophys or perfect attendance awards....That could sell it.

Gday mate,
Nice work first of all... you definitely have an interesting character with his own unique blend of emotions :D
My only crits are with the lip sync and some bits of the animation... At times it seems like youve skipped words and consenants by just leaving the mouth open. Just needs some smoothing out and a little bit more movement, the mouth is pretty lazy atm. Also with the animation it seems a little bit jumpy... but its only partially noticeable
Otherwise, keep up the good stuff :buttrock:

I fixed what was suggested to me. However I can still fix this if I get more positive critiques.
Thanks to all who posted.
