Hi!
What we have?
We have rock

of course we have sky

couple of smokes (i don't know who is that woman)

and finally we have this one after manipulation inside Photoshop

After that we put it inside Digital Fusion, couple of hours (i tell lies) and ... movie file is here (http://home.balticom.lv/pal/volcano/volcano.mov) (low res) Very simple, very fast.
Comments are welcome :)

Looks good.
I like what you did with the smoke.
looks way more real then anything you'd be able to make with 3D rendered clouds in a short timespan..

is looking pretty decent , how u did the smoke , simulation or comping ?
the smoke looks very good, do u have any breakdowns?
Thanx guys :)
This is not final shot, this is WIP :) I do it for fun and want to add more details, make more realistic view. Don't forget to check it out after couple of days.
When i'll finish this short shot i explain how it works. I think the idea will work everywhere, i mean AE, Shake, Nuke and so on.

Seeing what you referenced off of an knowing that it was not a simulation for the smoke this is really impressive. Playing through quickly I see the various blur and strech effects you used to get it working, but you don't really notice that it is not actual smoke when playing normal speed. The smoke looks really good overall, the only thing that I don't like too much is the couple of little spurts of lava, they look like they are moving too fast.

About "how it works". It's very simple.

This is usual deform tool for usual graphics programms. This is main tool which i used for deformation of smoke. Also i used another deform tool for local little deformation. Only helicopter is 3D animated object (spent a lot of time for modeling and texturing :) ), other pictures - just pictures :)
