View Full Version : Coffee and modifiers
Stéphane HENRY 10-02-2002, 10:00 AM Hello
Can have to reach to you the geometry of an object deformed by a modifier?
Does the geometry remain plane in the géstionnaire of points?
I do not find.
Thank you for your assistance

Coffee et modificateurs
Bonjour
Peut t'ont accéder à la géométrie d'un objet déformé par un modificateur ?
La géométrie reste plane dans le géstionnaire de points ?
Je ne trouve pas.
Merci de votre aide

Hello,
You might not directly access real points of a deformed object, even with COFFEE. But you can convert a deformed object into a simple object as it is, using Functions > Current State to Object. You can edit directly the points in the deformed state.

Thank you for your Hiroshi
answer Well on... but it sagit to make an expression which sticks another object on a mesh (éditable plan) which contains a modifier.
It there with really any way of acceder to the geometry of an object deformed by a modifier?

Bien sur... mais il sagit de faire une expression qui colle un autre objet
sur une maille (plan éditable) qui contient un modificateur.
Il n'y à vraiment aucune façon d'acceder à la géométrie d'un objet déformé par un modificateur ?

Well...I don't know such thing too. Maybe it's impossible in standard deformers. Before that, I wonder what you want to do.;) If you want to know only geometry information (that is, position of each point), another converted object will be sufficient. If you want to move points in the deformed state, this will be inconsistent with the operation of a deformer. Or, other purposes? Or, misunderstanding your question?
If you want to know realtime information of deformed geometry, I think you or someone may have to write a special deformer plugin which reports point positions in deformed state, using COFFEE or C++.
Hi,
this is no problem any more in R8. You can use Xpresso to fix an Object on a deformed mesh.http://www.bonkers.de/r8/xp/xp.html

Thanks for your notice. It's an interesting movie. I guess Stéphane HENRY wants to do that.
