I have a pirate ship made in cinema with tons of ropes. I like max's softbodies that allow for realistic soft body movement without bones. Is there such a tool in cinema and how would I use it?

dynamics has softbodies, clothilde is another softbody system, and finally you can even abuse thinkign particles to produce certain forms of softbodies (see tp softbody object on my www.peranders.com/c4d8/ website, and examples on sreks www.bonkers.de website)

C4D Dynamics has softbodies. Take a look at the videos here: http://maxon.net/pages/products/c4d/modules/dynamics/hl_dynamics_02_e.html

You can try the Studio demo and play with them before you commit your money.

you could even use SoftIK bone chains

amazed no one mentioned clothilde. its become my cloth, soft and rigid bodies dynamics system until dynamics becomes more user friendly.
