I dont think any tutorial will be able to show you how to make a perfect demo reel. It all starts in your head. First of all, know what you're good at and then focus on a reel with that area. For instance, If you're a good texture artist, make a reel showcasing your texture work and apply for that kind of job.
About that link above, its a good read but I dont agree with point 3. To list what you can do in a software could make your resume very long and less chances people would notice it. Its better to list the software with level of expertise such as Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.

well, i think the key to point three is to list your expertise in a specific, more high profile area of the program (like.. an expertise in MR, or scripting for advanced water systems or something like that) which would stand out more. Or just mentioned that you are an expert in using the tools of such and such plugin which just so HAPPENS (if you've done your reasearch) to be a major tool used by the company.
i mean, sure, you could say your an expert at poly modelling, but if you entering as a modeller thats to be EXPECTED. what they WOULD want to know is if you are a user or bob's nurbs plugin which the company likes, or your great at MR or scripting in max.

very interesting site tho, i think it should be publicized a bit more, the points are very straightforward but i know that i would be tempted to put every little bit that i've ever done on a demo reel (at least, if i ever get good enough to consider MAKING a demo reel and.. when ive goen through collage heheh).
i really liked the points, great read, maybe this could be stickied everywhere?
