chitera 04-13-2005, 09:05 AM i am new for mental ray shaders. just started experimenting on them. its quite different than maya shaders. it will take a lot of time for me to understand it fully.
well, i wanted to ask u guys one thing, it that, " how to use bump map in mental ray shaders". tried so many way, but i failed, i dont have proper help files too.
i am experimention on maya 6.5, if u could help me. can anybody tell me any web site where i can find mental ray shader's tutorial for maya 6.5.

Use the search function and make a search for bumpCombiner.

guys if u go to maya 6.5 mental ray documents, there is help files for bump map and mental ray shader,
guys bump combiner is not not working in 6.5

The tut in the mr docs is about mib_passthrough_bump_map, that's a little different since it outputs a color instead of a vector.
And there seem to be tons of threads about bump mapping in mr.

did any one has sucessfully use bump combiner in maya 6.5?cause it seem work for me.i m not sure also.
as i know we can't use maya prosecdural texture in tradisional mr bump shader network.or may be there is other way to connect it?

bump combiner works like a charm with maya 6.5.... if you can't make it work probably you're doing something wrong during the instalation process.
