still chipping away at it... but the general form is more or less done.

Cheers to who knows where the original rotor design comes from. =)

As odd as it sounds... this is a low budget leisure vehicle...

Its a bit of time after the nuclear winter or whatever the heck... And its more or less safe to be out and about without alot of protection. Just a breather and regular cloths will do.

Much of old the technology has not yet made its way back to the masses so this is where this thing comes in. Its built around a bicycle chasis, but with an added 20lb flywheel and belt/chain drive to power the twin rotors up top. The rider peddal it like riding a bicycle and the rotors spin to generate lift. How high this can fly is wholely dependant on the power of the rider. Steering is achieved by the tail fin connected via wire to the handle bar. Fancier acrobatics, relative speaking, can be achieved by shifting the rider's body weight in various direcitons. It is made of lightweight composite materials, the flywheel is made of weights sandwiched between composite plates. A wide belt made of synthetic material, and your standard bicycle chain completes the drive system. The gear box is modular and can be replace quickly. There are 2 air sacs (front and rear) filled with bouyant gas to help lightening the load on the rotors.

Since its human powered... the alternate power source falls into the character catagory... I hope I don't have to model a character to go with this?

I think the rotor design comes from that scene in Starwars, when they fight, spinning those lightsabres....:D

And what do you mean by 'more or less safe to be out and about without a lot of protection' ? It might be true until you stand next to your vehicle and your head goes bye bye :p

I really like your design and technical explanation. Look forward to see how it looks like with the baloons attached.

p.s: so you throw your weight to the front to advance, right ?

Looks great.

I wouldn't be that high in case I got a bad cramp or something...
Although it would be hysterically funny if someone said: Hey guys, lets see how high I can get....and then Aaaaarrrghhh , cramps, cramps, aaaaaaaarrrrrghh. ;)

Keep up the good work, Hito, and I'll keep my stupid comments to myself. ;)

not much of an update, but here it is... not alot in this vehicle anyway. =)

Was modeling the air sacs inside of the frame, but then Joe suggested on the side, works out very nicely.

still some straps for the air sacs and the drive chains to go... woopee. I'm not looking forward to modeling the chain links.

yeah, I know about the chain links. That's why I didn't use any.
