Hi! This is my first picture post

Helga Hammerhead is a character I am currently playing in a D&D campaign. A female dwarven figther.

I am somewhat finished with her face, but I'm having problems concerning the armor. Never painted armor before, and not quite sure how to proceed. Anyone know any good tips, tutorials, reference pics etc. that could get me along?

I also think she is turning out a bit too soft looking.

C&C are very much welcome

hi there!
this picture is looking good so far. and this is a link that might help you.
it is Phil Sauders' homepage. hi gives quite an interesting lecture about smooth metal surfaces. it's mostly about cars but armors have usally smooth surfaces as well so maybe you'll find it useful

another thing you can do is search for online shops with swords and armors just to get the idea how metals reflect lights.
however i don't know any metal painting tutorials you have to experiment ant try to paint waht you can see on reference photos. you can play mostly with grey colors going from very black to very bright pointy shinig areas. thare are supposedly some kind of tools in different softwares but i have never used them. i rather try to paint it myself hehe
you can also check how different artists paint metals and how they simplify it.
good luck and i hope i helped a bit
