Nu Visual Science 04-11-2005, 04:44 PM So how many people would buy a hard body dynamics plugin for Messiah and what features would you like to see ?
Cheers

If the cost is fair and it works well in messiah I would buy it.

Hi "Nu Visual Science"
i see you on several forums asking such questions and im not very sure about your "silo community" you sould like to create.
what i want to know is what kind of role you are playing? just "getting in touch" with the community?
Same here, I would like to know a bit more about how you would be involved with this, etc :) I sure would like to see a good hard body plugin, and if it's worth it, I'd also pay for it! :D

Hi,
Will definitely be willing to pay for it if it is good quality with decent support.

Im involved with a company that is looking at creating a few things, Im not the coder by a long long way, The community im creating for Silo that you aren't sure of is my personal thing and has nothing to do with any company (Accept one of our coders has agreed to make some plugs for Silo), The Silo community is really for the people who i have introduced to Silo who dont want to trawl through forums looking for tutorials and tips.
The reason you may have seen me asking this at Spinquad EI forums and here is that we want to make sure that all the coding that goes into any plugins or render controllers or whatever is completly portable, By this i mean that the code wouldn't be too platform specific so that if we do (Ahem) create a hard body plugin it would be available for other packages aswell as your own, We would also like to make the passing of data between platform using our products to be very easy aswell, In the audio world the plugin standards are just that, One plugin fits all as it were, Hopefully this sort of idea is just a step in the right direction.
I also want to gauge reaction to determine which packages will be the first to be supported, I must add here that Messiah is high on the list before i even posted but we aren't making any promises (Questions over the SDK and so on can only be answered as you go)
I also want to have a presence because i want everyone who has anything to do with us toknow that they have a point of contact, Emails are good but the speed o reply on forum is just much better.

I should a little thanx to TJ whopointed me in the direction of ODE ,I was asking what plugs would be useful for Messiah.
Oh and if you have any ideas let me know, Please try not to make the ideas for plugs too specific to Messiah if you get my drift :)

I would definitely be interested in a hard body plug-in for messiah, so count me in.:)

Sure, count me in, too. If the price is reasonable (where reasonable gives you some range to interpret from :D ).

If it´s not to expensive, I´m in

What would be too expensive, There aren't too many third parties creating stuff for Messiah to be easily able to gauge ?
theres no way it would ever be as expensive as Messiah because that seven sounds silly as i type it but what range ?
Im only asking because on the other platforms we would like to create stuff for it is very easy to gauge a price based on what is currently available.

I think you defined the definite upper end quite good Nu Visual Science.
I think a reasonable plugin should be no more then half the price of it's host app, just as a rule of thumb. Of course cheaper plugins are always welcome. :D

I agree with Alex about the pricing of a hardbody plug-in. Depending on the features I probably would be willing to spend $100 - $150.
To be honest, I think it's a catch for 3rd party developers that messiah is underpriced IMHO. For example, the dynamics module of Cinema 4D (which includes hard body, soft body and cloth simulation) is priced at $395, which is more expensive than either messiah:animate or messiah:studio workstation.
Having said that, I nevertheless would welcome an ODE implementation. :)

I'm halfway integrating Novodex into Messiah.
4 more info : http://www.novodex.com
Switchable physics/keyed, dynamic/kinetic/static objects, XYZHPBjoints with limits, motors, springs, ... :bounce:
Don't know about the costs yet.
Cool! Man, plugin development in messiah seems to really take off, to the point that we may even be able to chose between different developers for certain stuff, wich is a good thing/sign IMO
please add me to the list of the potential buyers. ;)

I would definately be interested... but... cost, value, usefulness would play a major role in my descision to purchase... So those parts would be up to you the developer, make something of value that fits seamlessly into Messiah at a reasonable price, you will get my purchase.
It's great to see developers are picking Messiah as a viable platform... we're here :)
I've bought
Joe Cosman's tutorials (excellent instructional videos)
AON shaders (great value)
and I will purchase others if they offer value to me :)

Btw, do not hesitate to post suggestions about integrating physics in messiah.
I'll try to implement them.

I think novodex and ODE would both be welcomed. The thing I would like to see with either one would be intregrated scripting via messiahScript, python, javascript, or any other C-type language. I know that ODE works and has been incorporated with python by 3rd parties. If pmG ever fixes the python intergration, then that and ODE or Novodex would be excellent.

speaking of novodex....

I woudn't mind a ppu card if I could access it from messiah.

Good ,plugins find their way to success sooner or later
I hope more and more solutions for messiah keep popping up..
would be very much interested in such a plugins as long as it fulfils my plugins buy equation
(it is of discreet values 0,1) 0=dont buy 1=buy
BUY = INT ( NEED (PLUGIN) / [COST + 1/( USABILITY OF (PLUGIN)) ] )
with apropriate values in the correct limitations ....

Sorry, but I really do not have the time to continue to develop the LLS_RBDynamix plug now. But I will as soon as I can. :banghead:
It's based on novodex, so it 'will' be supported by that PPU.
It will be a system where it's easy to switch between keyed animation and dynamics(not just a simple simulation). This way u will be able to create and control endorphine style rag dolls...
Still don't know about the price yet...

Any progress on this front?
It sounds like Newtek may be using NovodeX as it's new hardbody dynamic's engine as well.
