ok i got some of the basics down.. not all.. but some.. my preferd modeling technique is Box/meshsmooth. but now i'm trying to learn easy techniques for clothes, bone set up and facial animation.. my current software is max 4.

but i have not been able to fine any info on making some what realistic feet with bones... and then rigging it so that it works as a foot would. it some how keeps ending up in knots =(.

but my issues are mainly in final toutches which include doing the cloths ( i curently model them seprately using box modeling cuz i wanna beable to change the cloths around some, like difrant outfits and such ) but any how i'm looking for easy and effectiv techniques to add wrinkles... pleating dresses and such....

issue 2 how do i go about the cloths when it comes to animating the model? how do i go about making them move and eform with the body?

Issue 3 Bone rigging to make them work as a normal slelleton. i can get some of it right.. but the bart i have mose dificulti with is feet and hands and spine. ( i'm doing my first attempt at animation and this is what stalls me )

Issue 4 and as far as i can think of... Facial animation .. i notice this is something that many have problems with.... and witht e face animation i would like to know how to make the hair springy....

these are my problems. help, tutorials or good explinations would be great.

Thanx

Hi there.

Well, I won't attempt to answer all your questions at once and risk skipping important information, but I can try for one right now.
Sorry if I'm over or underestimating your skills.

As for modeling clothing; it depends on what you're after. Most of the time you can give a character the appearence of clothing by simply adding some wrinkles in key places (particularly where the characters joints will bend). Adding wrinkles is really not that tough. Here's one way to do it:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Find a good place for some wrinkles (like I mentioned above). A wrinkle out of place will not look too convincing.

2) Select a nearby edge.

3) In the Edit Geometry rollout, select 'Chamfer' and scroll its slider or drag in one of the viewports . You should now see two edges selected. Chamfer "clones" whatever edges you have selected.

4) De-select one of the edges and Chamfer again. Now you should have three edges (if you remembered to de-select one of them first)

5) Select the middle edge and pull it out.

6) Allways remember to get rid of those extra vertices at the corners by welding them to a nearby vertex.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course you can do that as much as you want. You can also exaggerate the wrinkles by making them wider, narrower, longer, whatever.

The address below contains a good example of this method:
http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp

Just practice dividing edges in key places (go into Edge mode, click 'Divide', and click on an edge) and using Chamfer until you're comfortable with it. It's actuall pretty convenient fot a lot of things.

Also, practice using the 'Bevel' tool on key pollygons, then welding the middle vertices together to get a similar effect.

One thing that's helpful to remember is to click the 'Display' tab and clear the 'Edges Only' checkbox. Then, with Perspective view selected, press F4 to display the edges on a solid object without having to be in Wireframe mode.

Now, animating clothing is a whole separate issue, which I might take the time to explain later.

Hope I've been helpful so far.

I'm currently using the box modeling technique for the clothes and they have not met the standards i wanted. but i also wanna be abpe to enterchange the clothes. for now we'll work with the simular issues and save the animation for last :). But the box modeling of cloths kinda make her look fat.. or to pointed hehehe... so i'm looking for other better result producing techniques.. thanks for the help hope to here from you soon.
