Hi,

alright here's the problem:

I have just spent about 2 hrs using Maya's 'Apply Colour' vertex lighting function, I got it to a point where it was looking how I wanted it. I then exported the model with the wertex lighting applied... and it worked fine. But, when I closed the scene down and re-opened it to make further changes all of the vertex lighting I had created was gone!

I have checked all of the obvious problems... and got nothing.

Is there any way that you can get the vertex lighting information out of Maya and into a txt file or something that I can simply slot back in?

As far as I know there are know immediate fixes to this problem but it'd be good to see if anyone's found a solution.
:D

If you want to save it as a text file, try ascii. You can open those with a text editor, but it would take you years to find your specific information. You can also try and export selected parts of the scene to another file and see if the information hold that way. Specifically, I cant help you , but hopefully the general approach works for you.

Hi,

yeah I had tried that method. I saved it as an ascii then opened it in wordpad and copied the actual operation and saved that to a separate txt file.

I reloaded the scene and the mesh still had the "polyColorPerVertex1" node but it had no vertex colour information. So I deleted that node from the meshes history then pasted the previous operation back in... but it still didn't work.

Man, this is a real bitch!

I've got a deadline tomorrow and I'm applying the vertex colours to a Football Stadium model and I am constantly having to make changes!!! Arrrggggh.

Thanks for the input.

Hey,

It's all good now... whew!

It was one of the settings in the Display>Custom Polygon Display menu. I had to reset the Colour Material Channel to 'none' and then back to Emission (while I have the mesh selected)

Man that's a relief:rolleyes:
