Eduardo dos Santos Janiszewski has entered the Master and Servant 2D.

Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/view_entries.php?challenger=7346)

Latest Update: Line Art: Samuru Lineart
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/7346/7346_1115538634_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/8/7346/7346_1115538634_large.jpg)

This is the final Line Art.
The reflex Samurai will be better when painting the 'lake' effect over it.
I choose the scene to be in Autumn, and the huge tree behind him will be full autumn colored, with hundreds of leaves on the floor...
(trees are bowing to the 'master winter' that is comming)
Just to think the effort on painting all that scares me now, but I will do it!
Behind the tree is a small wall running and lots and lots of trees.
Now I will be posting faster and my work will 'jump' as fast as possible.
I intend to add more elements but only at the ending process, more details now and won't be able to end it.

Comments are very welcome!

This is the first sketch, and the first character.

I chose to use the Samurai concept on this because the Samurai is both a master and a servant at the same time.
The word 'samuru' in Japanese means 'to serve', so the Samurai is one who serves.
But at the same time, here I depict a samurai master, his disciple will come after as his servant, but in some way they are both servants, and masters of the many 'jutsu' (techniques) of Japanese martial arts.
I am still thinking of using a water reflex of this samurai, but on the reflex, he will be on a prostrating respectful stance, reflecting his true noble servant spirit.

Since I am also a long time practitioner of these ancient arts, and a teacher too, I can try to express some subtle feelings thru the stances.
This stance, hides one feet back, and the left hand, while the right foot is showing.
The sword is not in a usual position, this one is a very relaxed stance, almost dropping the sword, and still the Samurai is alert and ready to react.

I just hope to finish this challenge, but in anyway, even my life now is so busy I will comit myself to finish it no matter when.

I would appreciate any coments.
Thank you.

This is the line art for the Samurai Reflex on the lake.
I decided to take the first concept.
Notice that the reflex of the Master Samurai is on a servant stance, offering the 'sword' in front of him, one leg up and one knee down bowing in reverence, he is much younger than he's master body, also he's clothes are simpler, all reflecting he's true nature.
I preffer to use the knee up, wich is a inbetween pose from the total reverence and the 'up' position, because of his always 'on alert' and 'ready' to serve spirit.
I am finishing the line art of the global enviorment and will start painting after tomorrow.
I use to start from painting over a very rough sketch, but since this is a challenge, I challenged myself into better drawing too rather than focus only on painting, since I didn't draw or paint for a long time, now it is time to take off the rust from my line arts.
Will submit the full line art tomorrow if I can manage to stay awake more here *lol*

well, I see the time is off now.
I got to travell and got smashed by huge amount of business stuff at the final phase, so I had to stop it for a while.
Now I will retake it and finish it, slowly now...
But will keep you all informed if I take to elsewhere on CGTalk so I can appreciate your valuable oppinions here.

Thank you, thanks a lot.
